Blythe Ellis had always been a strict teacher, but her cold demeanor was more a result of her own personal struggles than a desire to be unapproachable. Growing up, she had always been the smartest kid in her class, and her academic success had become a source of pride for her parents. However, when she entered college, she found herself surrounded by students who were just as intelligent, if not more so, than she was. This had left her feeling insecure and unfulfilled, and she had become increasingly focused on maintaining her status as the top student in her class.
